Access to Library Resources

The JKM Library has a wide variety of resources available for the students, staff, faculty, and alumni of McCormick and LSTC.

If you are currently affiliated with McCormick or LSTC, including cross-registered students:

The McCormick and LSTC registrars share lists of all new and cross-registered students, and new faculty members, with JKM at the start of each semester. We then make new library accounts, or update existing ones, including your OpenAthens credentials, which are associated with your seminary email address, and enable access to all of our resources.

If you do not receive a welcome email from us at the start of your first semester, or if your OpenAthens login does not work, or stops working for any reason: please use your seminary email to contact us at ihaveaquestion@jkmlibrary.org, and we will get you set up with everything you need.

With your OpenAthens login, our electronic resources are always available from this website, whether from our e-resources page or through Primo, our online catalog.

We do try to acquire everything that is needed for courses taught at both seminaries. Please let us know if there is anything on a syllabus that we may have missed, or not been informed of. You are also always welcome to suggest an ebook we might purchase, by contacting library staff at ihaveaquestion@jkmlibrary.org.

If you need a scan of an article or chapter, you can place a document delivery request, either by using the "Click here to request a scanned copy of an article or essay/chapter" function in the databases, or by emailing us with a complete citation of the material you need, to ihaveaquestion@jkmlibrary.org.

In order to borrow print books and other physical items, you have two primary options:

  • Place a request through Primo, our online catalog, either for an item we have at JKM or one held by any of the nearly 100 I-Share libraries, using your OpenAthens login; or
  • Place a request through the University of Chicago Libraries' online catalog (or go in person to Regenstein) for an item held in their collections, using your CNetID or UChicago Campus Card.

Items from JKM or another I-Share library will be delivered to the holds table by the elevators at LSTC, on the 4th floor of the shared campus building at 5416 S. Cornell Ave.

Items from Regenstein or another UChicago library can be picked up at Regenstein. Individuals currently affiliated with McCormick or LSTC now enjoy expanded access to the University of Chicago Libraries. We encourage all our users to learn about and use these resources.

If you are a McCormick or LSTC alumna/alumnus:

Welcome back, alumni! While we can no longer provide borrowing privileges, we do maintain a selection of electronic resources to help support your ongoing work.

Please email JKM Library staff at ihaveaquestion@jkmlibrary.org, and we can send you the updated usernames and passwords for these services.

If you are currently affiliated with one of our partner libraries:

Welcome! While we no longer have a physical library space in which to welcome you, or open stacks for you to browse, please reach out to us at ihaveaquestion@jkmlibrary.org, and we can get you started.
