Trial database: Encyclopedia of the Bible and its reception online

May 12, 2016

For a limited time JKM users can avail themselves of a trial database compliments of De Gruyter: the Encyclopedia of the Bible and its reception online. EBR is intended to serve as a comprehensive guide to the current state of knowledge on the background, origins, and development of the canonical texts of the Bible as they were accepted in Judaism and Christianity. This encyclopedia also documents the history of the Bible’s interpretation and reception across the centuries, not only in Judaism and Christianity, but also in literature, visual art, music, film, and dance, as well as in Islam and other religious traditions and new religious movements. Note: only the first 12 of the projected 30 volumes have been published to date, comprising articles on Aaron through Insult, although some articles beginning with J through M are available (but not Jesus). Because of the constraints of EBR Online being a trial database, off-site access in not available to our users. We'd appreciate your feedback: contact us at infocommons@jkmlibrary.org or use the 'Ask a question' tab to your right.
